On the 8th of May, at First Gate/ area of Festac town, where we have parks, a ghastly accident, which sadly took a life, was witnessed, and it was a gory sight.
The unfortunate victim, a young boy in his early youthful age, was crushed to death by an oncoming trailer. The victim was said to have had passengers on the bike with him just before the collision.
In an attempt to turn his bike to face the road, he didn’t see the oncoming trailer, which ran into him, hit him off the bike, and crushed his head, instantly killing him on the spot.
On impact, the boy lost control, and the trailer crushed his head, spewing his insides all over the ground. Luckily, the passengers he had on were able to jump off just before he was hit.
Police officers on duty were quick to remove the body from the roadside and try to regain sanity, and the driver of the truck was immediately arrested, and the trailer was transported to the Mile 2 police station.
A few of his family were around the vicinity, sorrowfully engaged in a squabble with the police officers who wanted to return the body back to the station, meanwhile they wanted to return the body back to the family house in Ibadan where burial rites would be performed almost immediately.
