A total of eleven establishments including three churches, hotels, bars, and lounges across different parts Lagos state has been sealed due to voilation of noise policy.
This came in the wake of a clamp down excercise by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) carried out in both the Mainland and Island axis, extending to Lekki Phase 1, Mafoluku Oshodi, Ago Palace Way near the Amuwo-Odofin axis, Oke Afa Estate, Isolo, Ejigbo, and Jakande Estate Road.
Among the sealed religious centres are Children Covenant Bible Church, Solution Point Ministry, and The Voice of Power Evangelical World.
Hospitality outlets and entertainment hubs also affected include D. Code Lounge, Akima Hotel & Suites, Hotel De Paris, Center Point Hotel & Suites, Zanzibar Lounge, and Amsodav Hotels. Others are Akanchawa Sport Bar and De Star Point Exclusive Bar & Lounge.
General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on noise pollution and related environmental infractions, stressing the risks posed to public health and community well-being.
“Our enforcement today is a clear message that we are committed to protecting the environment and ensuring a healthier Lagos,” Ajayi stated.
He urged organisations and residents to comply with environmental regulations, emphasising LASEPA’s mission to build a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable city.
The exercise underscores growing concerns about excessive noise levels in residential and commercial areas, particularly in densely populated zones like Amuwo-Odofin, where residents have long complained about disruption from churches, bars, and lounges.
