20 Amuwo-Odofin Students Bag ICAN Scholarship

It was all bliss as 20 lucky students bagged scholarships to begin the fundamental stage of ICAN training programme after their secondary education.

The Institute of Charted Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Amuwo and District Society in conjunction with Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area organised a professional Accounting Career Enlightenment Programme for secondary school students in the Local Government Area.

The programme which was tagged ‘Catch Them Young’ was held to introduce accounting profession to the students, the benefits of ICAN and how they can become future charted accountants.

In attendance was the Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh, members of the ICAN Amuwo and District Society and students from different secondary schools in the community.

The chairman in his words encouraged the students to take their career and education seriously.

‘’I want to encourage you to be serious, focused and face your studies squarely. I would also advice that you should not engage in examination malpractice. You are our future leaders and this is why it is imperative to educate you on the right career paths, so I want you to learn and make good use of this opportunity.”

As part of the activities for the event, ICAN Amuwo and District society presented a honorary award to the Executive Chairman in recognition of the Social infrastructural project carried out in the Local Government Area.
