30 Year Old Mr Odey Thomas has been arraigned before the Magistrate’s Court of Lagos State for allegedly stealing the sum of N652, 000 In Festac Town.
The defendant is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing preferred against him by the police. The incident occurred on April 10, 2015, at 22 Road Festac Town in Apapa area of Lagos State.
The prosecutor, Supol Olu Ojaokomo, told the court that the defendant, with no fixed address, stole the sum of N652,000, from one Saheed Ayiaka Ajayi to procure a marriage permit for his in-law, Amisu, based in London, a presentation he knew to be false.
According to the prosecutor, the offence is punishable under section 409, 312(a) and 285(1) of the criminal laws of Lagos State Nigeria 2011. However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
The Magistrate, Mr P.A Adekomaya, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties. He adjourned the matter till July 13, 2015, for mention.
