Agboju Market was thrown into disarray this morning as law enforcement officers launched an early-morning operation that saw traders chased out, and market stalls scattered, leaving many struggling to salvage their goods and livelihoods.
Festaconline media gathered that the officers arrived at the market as early as 6:00 a.m.
“They came to the market as early as 6 a.m. and began scattering everywhere without warning,” said one trader.. “People were just opening their shops when the chaos started.”
The operation left the market in a state of confusion, with several traders attempting to protect their merchandise while others watched helplessly as their stalls and make kiosks were demolished.
Another long-time trader at Agboju expressed frustration over what he described as a recurring pattern of market harassment by authorities.
“It’s a normal thing for them,” he said. “They came some years ago and did the same thing. It’s not like they’ve done anything meaningful with the land since they chased us out the last time. And now again, we’ve been displaced from where we were trying to make an honest living.”
As of the time of this report, no official statement has been released by the authorities explaining the reason for the early morning raid.
