Africa has witnessed a team from Festac Town, Amuwo-Odofin LGA spreading compassion beyond Nigeria. Resilience Rising and Community Development Foundation, a local non-governmental organization based in Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos State , recently took its humanitarian work to Kenya, bringing support and Christmas cheers to children at Bethel Children’s Home in Ruiru, Kenya.
Led by its Executive Director, Mr. Folorunso Steven Akinola, the foundation’s delegation personally delivered the gifts, which included essential supplies and cash support, to bring a touch of joy to the less privileged during the holiday season.
The initiative was part of a wider effort and coincided with the ongoing United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) and the 21st Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum, highlighting the foundation’s commitment to community and social well-being beyond Nigeria’s borders.
For Mr. Akinola, the mission was about more than donations. “We went to Kenya to bring hope, love, and a sense that someone cares,” he said. “These children deserve every opportunity to grow and thrive, and we are committed to doing our part to make that possible.”
The foundation’s work highlights how local organizations from Amuwo-Odofin can have a real impact on communities across Africa. By supporting vulnerable children and promoting social inclusion, Resilience Rising demonstrates the power of small groups to make big differences, while inspiring others at home to think globally and act compassionately.
This outreach reinforces the organization’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development, resilience building, and community empowerment values that continue to guide its work both in Lagos and beyond.
