Amuwo Games Holds 2023 Press Conference

On the 4th of October, 2023, the committee for Amuwo games held a press conference to officially put the idea of the game into play.

In participation was the chief organizer, Mr. Seun Ayeni, the chairman of the day, Hon. Valentine Buraimoh, the Amuwo Odofin chairman, the Amuwo Games committee members, and Sponsors of the game (Smoov Chapman, Nirvana Water, Golden Penny Foods, Alek Pharmacy, and Lanre Shittu Motors).

This edition of the games is tagged SAY NO TO DRUGS and is a campaign focused on promoting a drug-free lifestyle for youths, raising awareness, and providing resources to combat substance abuse within the community.

create a festival-like atmosphere and provide a platform for both professional athletes and emerging talents in the community, take youths off the streets, and keep them from doing drugs by engaging in sports.

Mr. Seun Ayeni gave the opening speech to kickstart the conference, the Amuwo Odofin chairman highlighted the event’s significance, sponsors showed their zeal towards being a part of this edition of the initiative and the committee expressed gratitude to partners and sponsors for making the event possible.

The games are to start on the 4th of November and would run through all weekends in November, featuring sports such as Football, basketball, tennis, volleyball, swimming and many others, from board games, to indoor games to digital games as well. Registrations are still on and would close on the 15th of October 2023.

Committee Member, Eva Etese, delivered closing remarks, emphasizing the event’s commitment to leaving a positive impact on the community through various initiatives.

The press conference concluded with a networking session, allowing informal discussions, interviews, and valuable networking opportunities.
