In a landmark moment for community safety in Lagos, the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) has received its very first fully constructed and furnished building courtesy of the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government.
The building was officially commissioned on June 20, 2025, by the Executive Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin, Valentine Buraimoh, in a vibrant ceremony attended by key stakeholders, local government executives, top officials from the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), and members of the Amuwo Chapter of the Corps.
This unprecedented gesture marks the first time in the agency’s history that a local government has built and donated a complete facility to support the LNSC’s operations.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Buraimoh highlighted the importance of this milestone:
“This building stands as the first of its kind across all 57 LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos State. It’s a testament to our commitment to safety, and a symbol of gratitude to the officers who tirelessly serve our people. With this office, we strengthen our capacity to maintain peace and security in Amuwo-Odofin.”
He emphasized that residents of the community have long benefited from the dedication of LNSC officers and that this new infrastructure will only enhance their impact.
Also present at the commissioning was Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan FISN, General Manager of the LNSA, who expressed heartfelt appreciation for the chairman’s voluntary initiative:
“This is a first in our agency’s history—a local government chairman, out of goodwill and vision, giving us a structure this significant. We are sincerely grateful.”
The new building will also be connected to the agency’s Situation Room at its headquarters, ensuring smoother coordination and quicker response times.
Dr. Oyekan noted that while past security challenges were simpler, today’s realities require stronger partnerships and smarter systems.
“We’re transforming the LNSC into a true community-policing force. Security now starts with the people. It’s a shared responsibility.”
Describing the structure as “perfect and beautiful,” the GM praised it as a model for future partnerships between local authorities and state security agencies.
This milestone not only sets a precedent for other local governments but also reinforces Amuwo-Odofin’s position as a proactive and safety-focused community in Lagos State.
