Amuwo Market Toilet Sealed, See Why

The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), upholding a zero tolerance to a cleaner Lagos, sealed off a public toilet facility at the Amuwo Odofin Shopping complex, at Mile 2, Jankande Estate, for illegal discharge of raw sewage into the environment.

According to the agency, the facility operators had been willfully channeling raw sewage directly into the drainage system behind the complex, without regard for the consequential public health and environmental impacts, thereby posing serious health and environmental risks to the public.

In the course of the exercise, 5 persons were arrested by security operatives for assaulting the agency’s officials. The offenders will be charged to the court for prosecution accordingly.
