Yesterday , 7th of August 2017, The Managing Director/ Chief Executive of Federal Housing Authority, Prof. Mohammed Al-Ammi paid a visit to the Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA, Comrade Engr.Valentine Oluwaseyi Buraimoh at the Local Government secretariat, 41 road, Festac Town, Lagos.
The Managing Director noted that the meeting gave his team the opportunity to avail the Executive Chairman of plans to restore Festac Town to its lost glory, while also seeking his cooperation to realize FHA’s aims.
” we opened up discussion with the Chairman of our plan to work together and help the community particularly the youths with job creation.
” we will also train people on vocational skills such as, bricklaying, et all. This will further bring development to our people, ” he stressed.
Prof. Al-Ammi also notified the Local Government boss of FHA’s recent victory in the court of appeal over a land dispute with the ‘omo oniles’ at Festac Phase 2, noting that the land now belongs to them, and the needful would be done soonest.
The Managing Director further congratulated the Executive Chairman on his election victory, stressing that the election was orderly and transparent.
He believes that Comrade Buraimoh is the right man for the job, having enjoyed tutelage from the immediate past Chairman of the Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale.
Responding, the Local Government boss thanked them for the visit and promise of his administration readiness to work with FHA, with a view of bringing back Festac Town to its original plan.
” My administration will give you the necessary support. We will synergize as we do before. We will be more proactive with FHA. ” The Local Government cannot do it alone. We need partnership from the Federal Government, and thank God FHA is ready to work with us,” he opined.
Meanwhile, the immediate past executive chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA Comrade Ayodele Adewale has called for Public Private Partnership as the way out of the current challenges in Festac Town.
He averred that FHA should form a partnership with the private sector in other for it to realize its objectives of restoration.
Comrade Adewale noted that special budget should be allocated to Festac Town because of its peculiarity.
In his words,
” if I have an opportunity to meet with the vice president, I will suggest that a special budget should be allocated to Festac.
We live in a dream world, if we think Festac is still the Festac of yesteryears.
The sewage system is not functioning, the roads are in a terrible state and so many things are in bad shape. I think, a special budget will address this”
Comrade Adewale further suggested that the Federal Government should set up a special task force to be situated at 6th avenue, Festac Town, Lagos. This according to him, will curb the security lapses in that area
