Amuwo-Odofin , 17 Other LGA Risk Being Locked Down

Amuwo-Odofin local government area in Lagos state is among the eighteen LGA’s in Nigeria that is at risk of being on strict Lockdown.

According to source, The federal government is seriously considering a total lockdown of these LGAs which amount to about 60% of COVID19 confirmed cases in Nigeria.

The coronavirus pandemic is on a high rise daily and the curve is yet to be flatten as we still experience a surge in cases daily.

As at the time of this report, Nigeria confirmed cases is at 25133 with 573 fatalities with Lagos still being the epicenter of the pandemic with 10310 confirmed cases and 128 Deaths.

Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation gave the indication after leading some members of the task force to brief the President, Muhammadu Buhari , at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.

Mustapha said affected state governments would implement what he called “precision lockdown.”

He also gave an insight into the reason behind the low fatality rate in Nigeria, saying 80% of the infections are in the age bracket of 31 to 40 years, which he described as a very active part of the population.

The list of LGA’s that might be affected was collated from the June 2nd Report by the NCDC of local government areas with higest cases in Nigeria of which Amuwo-odofin LGA was among.

According to data earlier released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, 11 out of the 20 local government areas that account for 60 per cent of the cases are in Lagos State

Other LGAs in Lagos including Amuwo-Odofin that might be affected are Lagos Mainland, Mushin, EtiOsa , Alimosho, Kosofe ,Ikeja,  Oshodi/Isolo, Apapa and Surulere.

In other state across the federation, Abuja Municipal Area Council in Abuja, Oredo LGA in Edo State,Ado Odo/Ota in Ogun.

Whilst in the northern area of Nigeria, Bauchi in Bauchi, Dutse in Jigawa, Maiduguri in Borno,Nassarawa and Tarauni Local Government Area in Kano State and Kastina in Kastina.
