The Commonwealth Games Nigeria (CGN) has planned to organize a Community Grassroots Sports program for secondary schools in the Amuwo Odofin Area of Lagos.
The event has been scheduled to be held on the 3rd of May, 2023, at the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Grounds, ‘’Olympafrica Centre’’, Olympic Village, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.
The program’s objective is to provide an opportunity for students in Amuwo Odofin to understand the importance of Sports and Education to youth development.
It will also promote social interaction among the students, as they get to meet other school students and engage in healthy competition.
The participating schools are expected to dress in their cultural dance attires.
The event promises an entertaining experience, offering a unique opportunity to discover the variety and values of our rich multicultural heritage.
Not less than 12 Schools in Amuwo Odofin will participate in the program with 6 students and a Games’ Master each representing the participating schools.
Prizes will be awarded to the three best students from each sport category which include; Volleyball, Netball and Cultural Dance. All participating students will receive certificates of participation.
Tony Nezianya, the Public Relations Officer of the NOC noted that this would also enable students to know more about the activities carried out by Commonwealth Games’ Nigeria.
