The international widows day is celebrated yearly worldwide and Amuwo-Odofin LGA was not left out.
6th July 2021 saw to widows in the community gather together to celebrate and commemorate the special day.
Special guest of the day was the House of assembly member representing Amuwo-Odofin constituency 1, Hon. Mojisola Macaulay.
The event which took place at 21 Road E Close, Festac Town, Amuwo-Odofin LGA , Lagos State saw to over 300 widows present.
It was indeed a time of celebration for them and their joy knew no bounds when Hon.Mojisola arrived the occasion.
The President Of The Amuwo-Odofin Widows Association, AOWA, Alhaja Wosilat Ariyoh in her address, interjected with prayers expressed profound gratitude.
In her words,
We are so happy to see our honorable today in good health and wealth, we are excited and we pray God strengthens her.
Macaulay Also, in her speech to the widows said
“I Hold the Women Folks Close to My Heart Especially Widows, they are very special to me. As the chairman house committee on women affairs, I have special love for them and want to be involved in anything that concerns them. I’ll be seeing you more often, the corona virus created a distance as but things are different now” .
She spent quality time with them and also asked for continual prayers and love to function in office as it is not a walk in the park to be a female legislator.
