It was a glorious event as Festac Senior Grammar school amongst other schools emerged winners of the 2024 Lagosreads inter-school quiz competition.
The competition which was organized by the Lagos State Library Services in partnership with the Lagos state government amongst six schools across the six educational districts as participants.
There emerged three winners of which Keke Senior High School, Agege emerged winner, followed closely by Festac Senior Grammar School from Amuwo educational district while Mende Senior High School from Kosofe educational district emerged Second runner-up.
Mr Amoo Oyadipe the Director of Library services lamented the declining interest in reading mostly among primary and secondary school pupils. He also said the competition doubled as an advocacy program geared towards promoting the reading culture among students in the state.
He encouraged stakeholders to address with urgency the issue by springing up programs that would inculcate the reading habit in children from a tender age.
