Amuwo-Odofin is set to play host to the Say No to Drug Addiction and Abuse Conference for youths.
The Event organized by Meljenstin (BUZOPAT) Youth Empowerment Initiative in collaboration with the Area E Police Command is set to Hold on the Thursday, 23rd June 2022 at the YWCA Vocational Centre, 24 Road, beside Kabe college, Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin LGA.
The event is set to feature seasoned guest speakers, such as Area E Police Commander Festac Divison, ACP IGBAFE Afegbai, other speakers are Stella Amechi, Dinma Nwobi, Ngozi Okonkwo, Salome i.Mbaso Robert, Immaculata Amaka Ugwunwa.
The event which is the 7th edition is set to kick off by 10am on the 23rd of June.
It promises to address lots of issues on drug abuse, addiction as well as the effects.
Drug abuse/Addiction can be insidious, slowly taking over all corners of the users life, sometimes even rendering the person unrecognisable and even useless to the society.

The negative consequences of drug abuse affect not only individuals who abuse drugs but also their families and friends, various businesses, and government resources.
The most obvious effects of drug abuse–which are manifested in the individuals who abuse drugs include ill health, sickness and, ultimately, death. Particularly devastating to an abuser’s health is the contraction of needle borne illnesses including hepatitis and HIV/AIDS through injection drug use.
Children of individuals who abuse drugs often are abused or neglected as a result of the individuals’ preoccupation with drugs.
The risk to children is even greater when their parents or guardians manufacture illicit drugs such as methamphetamine.
