Introduce yourself
My name as you know is Honorable Oghene Emmanuel Egoh, I am a member of the Federal House of Rep, and I am representing all the people of Amuwo Odofin federal constituency in the green chambers of Abuja.
Why should people vote for you?
Well, I’m trying to come back again, I want to be reelected for the 3rd tenure so I can be a ranking member and you know in the national assembly when you are a ranking member you are in a position to help your people better.
The more ranking you have, the more strength you have, that is why you see APC are wise, and that’s why they continue to allow people like Gbajabiamila to go, he has gone over six times and is going again. Faleke has gone five times and he is going and that is why over half of the APC members have been going three times and most are going for a fourth tenure.
It is going to align because they know the more you allow your people to go back, the stronger they will be in the national assembly and the more strength they have to be able to attract projects to your area because they will know more people at the national level, in budgeting, in the federal ministries, ministers, etc.
A first-timer is not going to be able to do much and if you deprive your constituency of a ranking member, your people suffer. In a lot of constituencies where a member wins it once or twice, they say “Oh, you have done your tenure” and then put in another person, at the end of the day, the constituency would not develop.
But because I went the second time, I was able to move a motion that is leading to the construction of Marwa road right now and the construction of Old Ojo road and because of that, we were in a position to build blocks of classrooms in Satellite primary school, and an ICT center in Festac.
That is because we went a second time and we knew what to do. today, I am fighting to see how I can remove all trailers not only from our local government but from Mile 2 in addition, that is why I brought in the motion of railway extension, all these you can do with experience and these are the things I intend to do more when I to serve my people.
One thing missing in Amuwo?
Oh! A lot of things are missing in Amuwo Odofin, if you live in Amuwo Odofin, you live in an area where you’re suffering. Look at the roads, they are bad, all the roads are bad, this 50 to 70million naira monthly on internally generated revenue, they collect billions also, from the federation account, the local government is collecting from the federation account, yet look at how bad the roads are.
So something is missing, we have to work hard with the local government to ensure that the government of PDP that is more humane comes in at the state level, because if PDP does not come in , we continue to suffer, look at 6th avenue and 2nd avenue, all the roads at Festac, since Festac was built over 45 years ago, no roads have been done, yet money keeps pouring into the local government, into the state and all you hear them say is that it is Oghene that is to do it.
Ask them, for 16 years, APC members were at the national assembly reprsnting this local government, can you point at one thing they have done, No. But you can point at the schools I have built, you can point at the road I have done from Ileepo to Chevron estate, you can point at the motions I’m moving that led to the construction of several roads and even the riverine areas, we need to do more for their schools and their transportation system.
Beyond that, unless the motion that moved in the house can be supported by the 360 members that the railway line that terminated in Apapa should be extended to Tincan port and up to Ijegun, unless that motion is approved, even the whole Lagos state will continue to suffer, the whole of Festac will continue to suffer because if you come out of your place, and want to go through Mile 2, the whole roads are blocked because of trailers.
Right from opposite barracks, down to orile, you would see trailers block everywhere. But if my motion is accepted, as we are working on it and then the railway line comes, of course, the railway stock can carry what 200trailer load can carry all at once.
So these are agendas that I have started and I have to go back to the national assembly to complete them.
