Following the recently concluded local government elections in Amuwo-Odofin, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASEIC) has officially presented the Certificate of Return to Prince Lanre Sanusi (PLS) as the newly elected Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area.

The presentation ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the LASEIC office, amidst applause from party members, supporters, and dignitaries.

Alongside PLS, Maureen Ashara was also handed her Certificate of Return as the Vice Chairman, sealing their victory as the new leadership pair set to steer the affairs of the local government.
In the same ceremony, LASEIC also presented certificates to the elected councillors across all wards in Amuwo-Odofin and Oriade Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), following APC’s sweeping victory in the chairmanship and councillorship positions.

“This certificate is a mandate from the people. We are committed to serving with transparency, inclusiveness, and renewed energy,” said PLS in his brief remarks after receiving his certificate.
Hon. Rasak Akorede Olojede, the chairman-elect of Oriade Local Council Development Area also received his certificate of return from Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu Ighile, Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) which formalises him as the elected leader of Oriade LCDA, following his victory in the local government elections.
The newly elected officials are expected to be sworn in in the coming days, after which they will officially assume duties.
Recall that PLS emerged victorious with 24,926 votes, defeating other contenders from Labour Party, PDP, YPP, APGA, and APP as announced by LASIEC. His victory marks a continued stronghold for the APC in the area, having also clinched all available councillorship seats across both LCDAs.
Residents now await the next phase of governance delivery as expectations mount for impactful leadership and community development.
