In this edition of Meet the Candidates, we introduce Balogun Ibrahim Olayinka, a dedicated son of the soil with deep roots in the Amuwo community and a passion for impactful leadership.

Position Contested and Ward

Balogun Ibrahim Olayinka is vying for the position of Executive Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, under the All Peoples Congress Party, APC. He hails from Ward C and was born and raised in Festac Town, Lagos State.

Background and Experience

An indigene of Lagos State, Olayinka holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Ibadan and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He also possesses professional certifications in Environmental Impact Assessment, Health Safety & Environment (HSE), and Project Management.

He currently serves as the Project Manager and Head of Quality Control at a reputable indigenous interior design and furniture company based in Ikoyi, Lagos. His blend of technical expertise and administrative experience has been sharpened by years of political engagement.

Since 2015, he has been an active, card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His roles include:

  • Personal Assistant to the former Executive Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA
  • Personal Secretary to the Central Coordinator of BOSKOH (Babajide Sanwo-Olu Foot Soldiers) for Amuwo Odofin LGA & Oriade LCDA
  • Personal Assistant to the National Adviser (South West), Youth Mobilization Directorate of the Buhari/Osinbajo 2019 National Youth Campaign Committee

Why He’s Running

Olayinka’s aspiration to lead stems from a “burning desire and zeal to serve” his people. With a commitment to distinguished leadership, he promises to deploy his administrative know-how to drive economic growth, foster sustainable development, and enhance the overall welfare of residents in Amuwo Odofin LGA.

Top 3 Issues and His Plans

  1. Unemployment:
    He aims to curb the rising unemployment rate through grassroots engagement and the application of 21st-century SWOT analysis to identify opportunities and match them with local capacities.
  2. Poor Infrastructure and Roads:
    To fix deteriorating infrastructure, Olayinka plans strategic public-private collaborations, engaging stakeholders and businesses within the LGA to co-create sustainable solutions.
  3. Healthcare Accessibility:
    He recognizes the urgency in addressing poor healthcare outcomes and pledges to make free medical support accessible to the most vulnerable, especially those within designated age brackets

Having spent over 37 years in the community, Olayinka says his commitment to the people of Amuwo Odofin is unwavering. His accountability, he notes, stems not just from political aspirations but from a lifelong relationship with the community built on trust, participation, and shared growth.
