As the 2025 local government elections approach, Festaconline Newsmedia continues its commitment to spotlighting credible aspirants across Amuwo Odofin LGA. In this edition of Meet the Candidates, we introduce Egobi Osagie Daniel, a dedicated community leader with deep roots in the Amuwo community and a passion for impactful leadership in his ward Position Contested and Ward He is contesting for the position of Councillor in ward K, Festac town, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area.
Background and Experience
Egobi who was born and raised in Lagos State received his primary school education in Festac Town, a community he holds dear and his secondary education in Festac Town and Maza Maza respectively. He then pursued his higher education at the prestigious Yaba College of Technology. He is happily married, a proud father, a devout Christian, and currently reside in Festac Town.
Osagie is a businessman, entrepreneur, and founder of the EOD Foundation, a registered NGO focused on grassroots impact and youth development. Mr Egobi has been Known for being hardworking, dedicated, accessible, people-centered, visionary, and responsible, and he has consistently contributed to community development efforts over the years and remain deeply committed to the progress of Ward K.
Why He’s Running
He is running for Councilor because he believes true leadership begins at the grassroots. Over the years, Daniel has seen both the struggles and strengths of our people, and is passionate about providing intentional representation that brings solutions, not just promises.
With his background in community service and development, Egobi is said to be committed to being a voice for the people, promoting inclusive governance, and working tirelessly to uplift his ward through collaboration, transparency, and strategic action.
Top 3 Issues and His Plans
The three major issues facing our ward/LGA are:
a) Education:
There’s a growing need for improved access to quality public education and learning infrastructure. If elected, I will advocate for better funding and support for schools in Ward K, initiate after-school programs, the likes of the then Ife Graduate tutors which was a major impact for most of us who did WAEC and JAMB in the late 90’s (it shouldn’t be about buying JAMB form, preparatory exercise should also be part of the educational development in our community) and also partner with NGOs and private stakeholders to provide learning materials, skill-building workshops, rewards and scholarships for deserving students.
b) Environmental Challenges (Poor and Delapidated Drainage System):
Environmental hygiene remains a critical issue in our community. Blocked, vandalized and deteriorating drainage systems lead to flooding and health risks. I plan to collaborate with relevant authorities for urgent drainage rehabilitation, ensure regular sanitation exercises, and establish community sanitation taskforces that monitor and report environmental issues.
This is an issue am very much passionate about , and in the past led an active campaign for a cleaner ward K.
c) Youth Development and Empowerment:
Too many of our youths are unemployed or underutilized. I will roll out skill acquisition programs, support small business funding, host career fairs. (Both physical and virtual, via social media platforms ), and promote tech and creative industry engagement. My aim is to create avenues for our youths to thrive and become self-sufficient.
Staying Accountable
Egobi has outlined his plans to remain accessible if elected , He says “My leadership style is community-based and participatory. I will remain accessible through:
• Quarterly town hall meetings
• Active presence on social media platforms
• Regular reports and feedback through various close and road representatives and official exco members
• Hosting annual community events, empowerment programs, and team-building initiatives that unite the ward
Transparency and accountability will be my guiding principles.
