With the July 12th local government elections fast approaching in Lagos State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially picked its candidate for the chairmanship seat in Amuwo-Odofin. Emerging from the recently concluded primaries is Prince Lanre Sanusi Ismali popularly known in the community as PLS.

The primaries, which held on Thursday, May 10th, 2025, saw Sanusi come out on top in a field of 20 aspirants. It was a landslide win, and one that many supporters have described as “well-deserved,” considering his long-standing involvement at the grassroots level.
Sanusi Ismail, as listed on official party documents, has now been cleared by the APC to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming local council elections. According to the APC’s screening results, he scored an impressive 80% in his performance review which gives a clear sign of the confidence the party has in his leadership potential.
A proud Lagosian, Sanusi has always maintained close ties with his community. Beyond politics, he brings to the table over 15 years of professional experience, both in the United States and here in Nigeria.
In terms of education, Sanusi holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University, a Bachelor’s in Business and Healthcare Management (from both Dallas Baptist University and the University of Texas), and an Associate Degree in Accounting. He’s also currently pursuing a PhD in Law and Public Policy at Walden University in the U.S.
But beyond all the qualifications, what stands out for many is his political journey. Sanusi got involved in party politics as far back as 1999, serving as a polling agent for the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Ajeromi/Ifelodun. He later joined Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign team and worked with the Independent Campaign Group (ICG), playing his part in Tinubu’s successful run for governor.
Since then, he’s remained active in the APC Party often supporting chairmanship and councillorship candidates in Amuwo-Odofin and Oriade LCDA with both his time and resources. In 2019, he stepped down from the race for the Amuwo-Odofin Federal House of Representatives ticket in favor of the late Hon. Risikat Adegeye.
Now, as he sets his sights on the chairmanship seat, many residents and party members see his candidacy as a continuation of his long-term commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance
