Amuwo Odofin and Environs gets New Area Commander. The new area commander, ACP Yusuf Ajape has resumed duties in the Lagos State Area E Command.
So far he has met with prominent leaders , stakeholders in the community.
The Amuwo Odofin Local Government Chairman, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh said he is confident in the ability of the New Area ‘E’ Commander, ACP Yusuf Ajape to deliver on the task before him especially, on effective and efficient policing of the local government area during his visit to the Council secretariat, Festac Town.
He said:
“We are comfortable that he ( Ajape) does not have to start trying to learn the ropes because he is very familiar with the security architecture and the enormity of the assignment that has been given to him. On our part, we will ensure that we support him as well as men and officers of the Area Command. – Engr. Valentine Buraimoh
Also during the meeting to welcome the new area commander at the Divisional Police Station, the area commander promised to keep information secret and also charged both policemen and residents to play their parts in ensuring a safe community.
Attending the welcome meet were community leaders such as The DPO, The FTRA President, Shola Fakorede, PCRC Chairman, Mr Williams, Lakeview Association Leader, leaders of residents associations in the community, policemen and other security operatives.
“What is most important to us is that we must continue to live in peace and keep the community safe. Amuwo Odofin LGA must be safer, cleaner and it is based on that we can invite investors to come in. More importantly is the fact that we in government have decided that without a safe community, we cannot have a prosperous local government.
” I also want to appreciate the former Area ‘E’ Commander for contributing immensely to the security of the local government and reducing drastically the issue of kidnapping, rape and armed robbery. We now live in peace but the momentum must continue”.
Also during the visit to the council chairman, ACP Ajape assured that he would hit the ground running and employ various means including community policing to ensure that Amuwo Odofin LGA emerges as the safest place to live and do business in Lagos State.
” I will ensure that we continue with constant patrol and encourage Estates and residents to have vigilantes; that is what is obtainable in the advanced world now”, he noted. – ACP Ajape
He thanked the Council chairman for his support to the Nigeria police, while also seeking for more synergy between the Police and government.
