Yesterday, 5th October 2017, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Imohimi Oluwole Edgai, was present at the 9th town hall meeting organized by the Area Command E .
The town hall meeting which theme focused on the police and security of life and property : Role of citizens.
The town hall meeting held at the Events Center , 32 Road organized by the Lagos state police command.
Area E Command covers Amuwo-Odofin LG , Ojo LG, Iba LCDA ,Oriade LCDA.
The commissioner of police on tour to the different Area Commands and towns to have town hall meetings with the people of the environment to discuss and also for him to present to them his plan of how to better the security of every environment, to make it safe.
Various security issues were discussed and focus on Community Policing and Security was emphasized. He emphasized on Community Policing, in his words
Community policing is based strictly on winning back the trust and confidence of members of the public we seek to protect. It will not work because it has an aspect that deals largely on intelligence policing.- Imohimi Oluwole Edgai
Intelligence led policing which involves members of the community freely giving information to their local police.
During the town hall meeting, encouragement of police-public partnership was also discussed.
In attendance were community chiefs, rulers, FTRA, Associations ,stakeholders and residents at large of Oriade, Amuwo-Odofin,Iba and Ojo whose areas fall under Area E Police Command, Lagos State.
