Battle of the Sounds Season is back with its 3rd edition in the community. Season 3 opened with a reunion of Season 1 alumni in Amuwo-Odofin LGA, Lagos State.
The much-anticipated third season of the popular biennial music tournament Battle of the Sounds kicked off on Saturday, November 5, 2022, in Amuwo-Odofin with an opening ceremony that was well-attended.
Speaking to Seun Ayeni, the chief convener of this biennial music tournament and festival, He explained that he founded it in 2017 as a tool for youth development, talent discovery, and reducing restlessness in his community.
Recall that the last edition which was in the 2020 edition, on the other hand, was affected by the lockdown and was streamed online, with maximum safety precautions taken to comply with COVID-19 regulations.
The 2022 opening ceremony, which was held at Darius Turf in Amuwo-Odofin on November 5, 2022, was well attended by dignitaries and spectators.
In attendance were the Amuwo-Odofin LGA Chairman, Engr Valentine Buraimoh, other councilors, and executives as well.
Also in attendance were, celebrities such as K-Peace of Nigerian Idol fame and award-winning GT da Guitarman, who grew up in the community, VJ Priceless, Hypeman and so many others who attended the event. Executives from media partners such as Festaconline Media, Festac Mag, and others were also present.
According to the co-organizer Dapo Quadri, Battle of the Sounds Season 3 will last one month, The format of the competition uses all of the weekends in November, allowing teenagers, young youths, and everyone who works full-time to participate, he added.
At the tournament’s conclusion on November 27, 2022, group and individual winners will be awarded cash prizes and record deals.
According to Dare Ayeni, another event co-organizer, group winnings are usually greater than respective winnings in order to encourage teamwork and communal unity.
