At about 10:30 on the 7th of March, a group of young men stormed Gozard hotel along Community Road, Abule Ado, shot the DJ on stage, and inflicted machete cuts on him. The disc jockey (DJ) was eventually identified as Victor Dickson.
The police were able to arrest a suspected cult member and two other individuals in connection with the killings, as well as recover arms and ammunition from the arrested suspects.
Police operatives responded to the scene and pursued the assailants as they fled into FESTAC.
One of the assailants, Christian Chukwudi, also known as Marshal General, aged 35, a notorious robber and cultist who has been terrorising the area, was arrested with the help of local vigilante members in FESTAC while attempting to escape.
A locally-made short gun with one live cartridge was recovered from him, while another live cartridge was found at the murder scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested suspect is a leading member of a cult group.
