Update : Fire Outbreak In Festac Town, Several Displaced

There has been reports of a fire outbreak in Festac Town in the early hours of Saturday 21st March 2020.

The fire ravaged and destroyed some of the shanties were people reside in the 7th avenue area of Festac Town, Amuwo-Odofin LGA, Lagos State.

We got distress calls from residents of the area, Comrade Adewale, Past Chairman, Amuwo-Odofin LGA, Okpozae Geoffrey, Past Legislative Candidate in Amuwo.

According to one of the residents, the fire started at about 2am this morning, several calls were made to fire services but no prompt response.

The fire which occurred at the C1 close are of 7th Avenue which is an empty plot of land occupied by squatters of different nationalities mostly northerners started due to a faulty generator set and spread seriously.

According to our source, the men of the Federal Fire Service, Festac Town came on time with one truck with registration number FFS-54 led by DSF Owana.

They were later joined by another fire truck with registration number LA 150 A40 led by Akoteyon Sunday from Lagos State Fire Service, Ojo LGA.

The fire was put out at about 3:25am leaving individual who live in the shanties at the location stranded and homeless.

No casualty has been recorded yet. At the time of this report no lives were lost.
