Civil servants across the country received good news, as the Federal Government has approved a salary increase of between 25% and 35%, on the 30th of April, 2024.
We recall that those in the tertiary education and healthcare sector which involved University Academic Salary Structure and Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure for Universities had already received their increases earlier in the year, which takes effect from January 1, 2024.
For Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, it involved the Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure and Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure. The health sector also benefitted through the Medical Salary Structure and Health Sector Salary Structure.
The new salary structure covers the other sectors including; the Public Service Salary Structure, Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure, Police Salary Structure, Para-military Salary Structure, Intelligence Community Salary Structure, and Armed Forces Salary Structure.
The Federal Government also approved increases in pension between 20% and 28% for pensioners on the Defined Benefits Scheme in respect of the above-mentioned six consolidated salary structures with effect from January 1, 2024.
