Due to the high rise of Coronavirus confirmed cases in the Amuwo-Odofin community, the executive chairman, Valentine Buriamoh and the vice chairman, Hon Segun Idris during the week engaged various groups and stakeholders in the community on safety protocols for COVID19 era.
Recall that recently, the confirmed cases in Amuwo-Odofin LGA is above 200+
MARKET LEADERS
On Thursday July 2nd 2020, Market women & their leaders had their session of engagement.
The chairman emphasized that there must be a place for washing hands, sanitizers in place, the use of Face masks for those selling and those buying was also emphasized on. Sanctions would be taken !
Preventive measure is the only way forward to reducing the spread of the virus in our LGA.
He appealed them to sensitize their people on adhering to the preventive measures as stipulated by the government and health experts
The leaders explained the way market sellers are not taking self responsibility of using the preventive measures.
The market leaders promise to go back and effect the directives and ensure the measures are taken in place as instructed.
ARTISANS & ASSOCIATIONS
Artisans and their unions were on left out, they has their engagement session On Friday 3rd July 2020.
Various Artisans associations were also engaged by the Mayor to appeal to them to intensify the sensitization drive amongst their members to comply with the preventive measures to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in LG.
The Mayor warned that a committee has been set up to monitor compliance and anyone found defaulting would be dealt with within the ambits of the law.
Ignorance on awareness would not be entertained, everyone taking it for granted should not operate under any circumstances would not be allowed to operate in the community. When a life is lost it cannot be replaced!! – Valentine Buraimoh
If you are not adhering to the measures to save our community, the task force that has been set up would take measures and fines would be charged.
The union leaders showed their support and also lamented on some stubborn artisans who are not taking it serious.
COMMUNITY LEADERS
Community leaders were also met with and engaged by the Chairman and his vice, and appealed to to take the message back to their various communities.
The leaders were affirmative insisting that the surge calls for greater attention.
The COVID19 is still very much in our midst, we are advised to take necessary preventive measures to protect ourselves and loved ones.
Let us protect our lives. Lets how love to ourselves by not allowing it to spread.
