Crime: Five Nabbed For Vandalizing Cars In Amuwo-Odofin

Five men were on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly vandalising one Lexus car and stealing car accessories worth N550,000 in Lagos.

The five men are Lawrence Bitrus (23), Eze Alex (45), Iruka Oddom (38), Nojimo Ibrahim (33) and Ewarami Teddy (35).

They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on September 6, 2019 at about 11pm at Prayer Estate, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.

“The defendants conspired to vandalize one Lexus 470 car and stole the following items; brain box, dash board, car stereo, central lock buttons, glass bolt control and the back seat, all valued at N550,000 property of one Uzoigwe Daniel,” Balogun said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

Magistrate T.R Oladele granted them N100,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till September 23, 2019 for mention.
