Crime Rate Spikes in Festac Town, Residents Lament

Festac Town a peaceful community in the Amuwo-Odofin LGA axis of Lagos state has of recent experienced a spike in criminal activities.

Cars in Festac town have now become a focus and target for armed robbers/ criminals as Car vandalism spree seems to be ongoing.

Festaconline media has gotten series of complaints on this recent developments from residents in the community who have decried a rise in closes  being attacked at night and cars being burgled and vandalized.

The modus operandi of these criminals is quite disturbing. They attack closes in the dead of the night.

The criminals come into the close mostly armed, they injure or tie up the security guards and then carry out their criminal activities.

These are some residents experience;

On 20th August resident of 112 Road woke up to this, A resident who runs a transport business also lamented his the ugly experience.

He shared how all cars in their close and my buses for his business were destroyed and vandalized and even brain boxes gone.

On 12th October, 23 road B close residents were attacked, cars were vandalized, securities were locked up while carrying out their criminal activities.

Also that day ,3rd avenue adjacent 32 road, lots of cars were vandalized and the security man was held at gun point.

18th October, 3 closes in the 24 Road area of Festac Town were affected.

According to the resident, up to four guys came into the close, vandalized the cars, stole car parts and destroyed others. The security in the close were also tied up. They even broke the burglary.

19th October, Residents of X Close, 21 Road Festac Town were also attacked between the hours of 2am – 3am. The resident who reported this lamented that his parents cars were both vandalized.

Another resident Mr Femi, lamented on how they stole all controls to the windows, removed brain boxes of mostly the corolla cars in his own close.

On 25th October another report of up to 6 cars vandalized in the early hours of the morning  at round 2am at 5th Avenue Y Close, Festac Town.

According to resident, 5 armed men came into the close with a car to perpetrate the crime.

On 28th October, I close on 5th Avenue Festac Town was attacked while the Security in the close was injured.

on 31st of October, these criminals made attempt to gain access to 312 Road , Festac Town at early hours of 3am, Unfortunately they were prevented by the gateman.

7th avenue was not left out of this attack, as about seven vehicles were vandalized at about 3am on November 1st 2020.

A Resident of 401 Road also shared his experience narrating how the criminals were able to vandalise cars armed with guns and even came in a hilux.

These criminal activities and vandalization has cost owners unnecessary spending’s for repairs and replacements worth millions of Naira.

Some areas that have been affected are 3rd avenue , 401 Road, 21 Road R close, 201 Road B Close, 311 Road A Close, 112 A close and many areas unmentioned.

The patterns of attacks are becoming disturbing hence we are calling on the security operatives to please swing into action.
