It was a scary and sad Wednesday on 3rd Of October 2024 as a ghastly accident led to the loss of lives of two commuters and others severely injured in the Amuwo-Odofin axis of Lagos State.
The incident started when a driver returned from dropping his employer at the airport. He hit a moving motorcycle. The motorcycle was fully loaded with passengers. This collision left one person dead at the Ago-Okota axis. In a bid to escape from the mob, the driver started running towards Apple Junction. During this escape, he hit another commuting motorcycle, dragging it under the car while the rider escaped. he was driving till the FESTAC-access road leading into Festac Town
Still on the run from the growing mob, the hit and run driver started running towards Festac Town axis via the FESTAC-Access road, he hit two other Motorcycle riders with passengers and hit another commuter at the turning opposite the MRS filling station, whilst still in speed motion, he hit the solar stand which led to his vehicle somersaulting and destroying lot of public properties
Whilst the car somersaulted, it also hit a tricycle fully loaded with passengers leaving many injured. It was a serious accident. The commuter who was hit at the Festac-Access toad axis died instantly. It was gathered that she was on her way back to the hospital. She had gone to get funds for treatment for her sick father. The passengers he hit earlier were two sisters who came visiting their aunt from Ibadan. One died instantly. The other fractured her leg and sustained serious injuries. The rider survived.
Law enforcement officers were at the scene to control the situation. They removed the vehicle involved as well as the motorcycles from the scene. VIO took the bodies away.
