Festac Police Recover Arms at Alaba International Market

Detectives from Area E Festac Command stormed and recovered high caliber guns such as pump actions, double barrels, short guns and live ammunition in the market.

Thus, the leader of the market, Mr Emeka Mozoba and some of the security men in the market were arrested and detained at Festac police command.

This, as it is reported, is against the backdrop of a trade dispute going on in the market between the market union and some traders over demands for N300,000 per shop for the occupants by the union.

Mr. Mozoba, contacted at the Police station, said he was indeed summoned by the area commander but it was over the ongoing market dispute, and not about the matter of recovered arms.

He however said he had heard the rumor too, but added that such information was false and that the union had issues with some traders who he suspected of spreading the false information.

Traders at the market however insist that arms had indeed been recovered by the Police.

Efforts to reach the area commander and inquire about the matter proved abortive as reporters were told that he went to Ikeja Police Headquarters over the matter.
