They further  said a publication has also been out to appeal  to those who are owing FHA on their mortgage, ground rent development levy or premium etc should pay up or risk forfeiture of their properties in accordance with the law.

Removal orders , quit notices were served to unauthorized occupants on open spaces as well as unapproved private residents converted to commercial entity in 2020.

According to Shola Fakorede, President of Festac Town Residents Association,
Few days ago FHA and Lagos State Taskforce jointly served removal notices and quit notices again to the occupants from First gate to Third gate, they were given seven days which expired on Wednesday 9th of June 2021.

Also, it was further gathered that on the expiration of the seven days removal notices served on the occupants of the spaces , they were informed that the Taskforce will dislodge any occupant who fail to move and will remove any structure not approved by FHA on the said locations affected

The FHA has  issued adequate notices to owners of illegal structures, shanties, canopies and stalls which have defaced the Estate which will begin immediately after the demolition exercise from First gate to Third gate in the second Avenue axis of the estate

A canal has ready been dresged to serve as a buffer between Festac Town and badagary express way which which collect storm water from the two axis.

Recall the MD of FHA , Senator Gbenga Ashafa was in Festac Town last year to see the situation of the decaying estate himself and sort out a remedy for the fast degenerating Estate.

Shortly after visiting Festac the MD paid a visit to the Executive Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo Olu where they both discussed how to rescue Festac from further decay.

In the words of the Governor to the MD he said “WHENEVER FHA IS READY LAGOS STATE IS READY”. This assertion sounded very positive and encouraging as watchers were waiting to see the two Authorities match words with action.
