Festac Town will play host to Rotary leaders from across Lagos and Ogun states as Rotary International District 9111 prepares to hold its Presidents-elect Leadership Learning Seminar (PELS) at Festival Hotel, Festac, from Friday, March 6 to Saturday, March 7, 2026.
The leadership seminar is organised for incoming Rotary club presidents who will serve during the 2026–2027 Rotary year, providing them with the knowledge and tools required to effectively lead their clubs and drive community impact.
District 9111 Governor-elect, Bukola Bakare, explained that the programme is designed to equip newly elected presidents with practical leadership skills and insights into Rotary operations.
According to her, participants will be trained on the expectations, responsibilities, and strategic planning required to successfully lead Rotary clubs during their tenure.
As part of the seminar, several experienced Rotary leaders and professionals will deliver sessions covering leadership development, planning, and public engagement.
Uganda’s past District Rotaract Representative, Allan Ntambi, will deliver a talk titled “Today’s Rotaractor, Tomorrow’s Rotary Leader.”
Also speaking at the seminar is Dr Oluwole Kukoyi, pioneer District 9111 Governor and Chief Medical Director of Ace Medicare Ltd, who will lead a session on “Planning Your Year Ahead.”
District 9111 Governor-nominee, Dr Samuel Ayetutu, will also address participants on “Planning Meetings and Providing a Satisfying Club Experience.”
Other facilitators expected at the leadership seminar include past District Governor Otunba Bola Onabadejo, who will speak on Rotary Foundation Fundraising Strategies, and former Managing Director of Crittall Hope Plc and past District Governor Remi Bello, who will deliver a session on “Telling Your Rotary Story.”
In addition, Michael Effiong, Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor and District 9111 Executive Secretary, will lead discussions on Public Image and Social Media.
District Governor-nominee designate Engr Ade Oyenekan will speak on Rotary Programmes for Young Leaders, while Mr Oladele Olanike will deliver a presentation on “Leadership and the Power of a Creative Mind.”
Chairman of the Presidents-elect Learning Seminar, Past Assistant Governor Efedi Jellily, noted that participants will gain valuable knowledge on leadership, team building, project management, and Rotary operations.
He added that the training is designed to strengthen the capacity of incoming club presidents and help them lead their clubs effectively during the coming Rotary year.
Rotary District 9111 Learning Facilitator, Past District Governor Bola Oyebade, also emphasised that the knowledge gained from the seminar goes beyond Rotary activities.
According to him, the leadership lessons from the programme can also benefit participants in their professional careers, personal development, and community service initiatives.
The Presidents-elect Learning Seminar remains one of Rotary’s key leadership development programmes, aimed at preparing club leaders to deliver impactful humanitarian projects and strengthen Rotary’s service to communities.
With the event holding in Festac Town, residents of the Amuwo-Odofin axis are expected to see an influx of Rotary leaders and professionals gathering for the two-day leadership training at Festival Hotel.
