FO Voices: How Policemen Extorted Me, Sick Resident

  • by

On the 9th of May, a resident of Amuwo Odofin was harassed by the police officers on his way to the hospital to run a check-up.

He was on a bike with his girlfriend to a clinic at Apple Junction, where he had an appointment, and was stopped at Durbar by policemen.

After searching him, they found nothing incriminating on him. He explained he had an appointment and wasn’t feeling good, yet they refused to adhere, delaying and seizing his phone. He was also extorted of 203k on the spot.

He informed his elder brother on getting home, who eventually reported the case to BBI Human Rights, which helped to retrieve the money for them, and the officers in question have been apprehended.
