Food Import Duty Tax Suspended

The current drop down of the Nigerian economy, causing a lot of trouble in the country has resulted in the authorities taking necessary actions towards making its citizens at least cope. On that note, the Federal Government has announced through the Comptroller General of Customs of the suspension of import duties and taxes on essential food items to make basic necessities more affordable for citizens.

In a public address, Comptroller general of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi acknowledged the widespread economic challenges and outlined the governments commitment to easing the financial burden on it’s citizens.

He acknowledged that global inflation is impacting nations worldwide as well as Nigeria, noting that in addressing this, the Federal government through the Nigerian Custom Service (NCS) is suspending import duties and taxes on essential food items to make them more affordable.

Hence when you go to the market, no more ” Na dollar cause am”

The NCS has streamlined export processes to help the efficient movement of Nigerian goods to international markets, this initiative includes the introduction of advanced ruling systems, authorized economic operators, and a time release study designed to enhance trade, simulate the economy and create new opportunities.

And will also provide farmers, artisans and entrepreneurs with a faster path to global markets, thereby benefitting their families and communities.
