It was a horrible sunday in Amuwo-Odofin as a ghastly multiple road accident claimed no fewer than Six lives at Second Rainbow axis in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State in the evening time of the day.
According to information gathered, a tanker loaded with Petroleum product experiencing brake failure inward mile2 axis lost control and crashed into a Honda car and two commercial buses that were fully loaded with passenger’s.
According to Witnesses, it was a serious incident , a lot of people sustained varying degrees of injuries , and unfortunately, six people were killed instantly.
Passerbys and local residents swung into action in an attempt to assist victims and rescue those who were trapped in the wreckage.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the incident as a horrific scene.
Another witness mentioned, “The trailer lost its brakes and hit the vehicles at full force. It was devastating, and bodies were immediately scattered on the road.”
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority officials were onground to also attend to the casualties involved in the ghastly accident. Also, the Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC AND Nigerian Police Force were also at the scene to manage the aftermath and evacuate victims for immediate attention. Assisting in the evacuation were other commuters who helped to carry the injured into vehicles for treatment.
Emergency responders transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment and cleared bodies of the deceased from the accident scene while onlookers gathered in shock at the scene of the tragedy.
The authorities have commenced investigations to determine the cause of the brake failure and ensure that any responsible parties face appropriate consequences.
