There has been an uproar in the Amuwo-Odofin community, as 21-year-old ward, Sarah Alaba of Kikelomo Anthony, her guardian has been kidnapped by unknown men in the Festac Town axis of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Kikelomo shared with Punch metro that her ward was abducted last week Monday, when she went to hawk her wares in the afternoon, on the streets of FESTAC Town, which was the last time she was seen.
It was gathered that the victim who was undergoing vocational skill training also had a side job of hawking boiled eggs and fried ponmo,
She said the victim went missing after she went on with her daily routine, and then they received a call that kidnappers abducted her with a mysterious intention.
“On Sunday, I left for work because I once lived at FESTAC, but my business is still there. So, we go home together during the weekend, sometimes, she would stay back. I told her that we should go home, but she said she was not going since I was coming back on Tuesday. Whenever I go home, sometimes, she would not go with me, she stayed with my neighbour.
“On Monday, I was at home when my neighbour called me to say that they did not see Sarah, that was around 9:23 p.m. I exclaimed because there was something wrong. We even reported to the police on Tuesday morning because everyone knew she was in my care.
“On Tuesday night, the kidnappers called her fiancée that she was with them. They called that they did not need money, that all they wanted was her cooperation with them, and they gave the phone to Sarah to clear his doubts. We tried calling the kidnappers, but we were unable to reach them.
“Her fiancée called me last Friday that the kidnappers called her, and said the reason why they abducted Sarah was because she acted arrogant whenever they called her while hawking. I was left dumbfounded. He said the kidnappers told him that they might release her this week, but their leader is not around”, she said.
The guardian said that there was something fishy about the kidnap, and the pressure the victim’s grandmother was putting on her because she is also restless.
“I believe these people are not kidnappers, they just want to have her. My problem is Sarah’s grandmother, who said the place she visited for a spiritual consultation, they said Sarah was not kidnapped or with a man, that she is still in my custody,” Anthony said.
Efforts to contact the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, proved abortive as he did not respond to calls and text messages, as of the time of filing this report.
