Lagos State Gears Towards Community Day Celebration

As part of the ongoing activities to mark the Golden Jubilee anniversary of Lagos State, the government has put together plans to celebrate the ‘Community Day’ event for residents in all the divisions in the state. The Community Day event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

The event is scheduled to expand the candor of the popular Fanti, the Lagos Carnival that brings on board a grand street party to mark the celebration of Lagos @ 50 both on the Lagos Island and across the Mainland zones of the state.

According to the Chairman Organizing Committee for the Lagos @ 50 Community Day event, Chief Michael Olawale Cole, the event will be celebrated simultaneously across the 20 Local Government Areas in Lagos State.

He stressed that the event is planned to showcase the colourful cultures synonymous to the respective LGAs with the residents of the area directly participating in propagating the way of life in their communities.

“Lagos is known as the point of call for anything from entertainment, commerce, economy, tradition and cultural celebration. This event is meant to showcase the cultural heritage of Lagos in relation to the communities across the State,” he told InsideMainland.
