The State government has finalized its plans to establish a transport hub at Mile 2, Lagos, where commuters can board a train or commercial bus to Okokomaiko after disembarking from the CMS-Mile 2 Jetty.
This is part of the efforts of the state government to enhance international transportation in Lagos, as it would help with the traffic congestion, and the amount of time spent on the road.
The Mile 2 hub will be likened to the transportation hub at Marina, where commuters have options of taking either a train, ferry, or commercial bus, depending on their daily routines.
Also, work is ongoing on the Mile-Okokomaiko (Green line) railway corridor to enhance mass movement of people and, by extension, reduce the number of vehicles on the roads.
According to the Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Mr. Shola Giwa, out of the 20 Local government areas in the state, 15 are covered with water, adding that the state government has acquired about 17 Jetties for commercial purposes on the waterways.
