Relief swept through Mile 2, Amuwo-Odofin, as the Lagos State Police Command announced the recovery of 32-year-old Odera Mbadiwe, brother of former Big Brother Naija housemates, the Mbadiwe twins.
Odera, whose case had gone viral on social media after being declared missing, was traced to Mile 2 and found in a distressed condition but alive.
The command’s deputy spokesperson, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday.
According to him, Odera left his Victoria Island residence on Monday, September 1, in his father’s Nissan 350Z Convertible but failed to return home. His family reported him missing to the Victoria Island Police Division on September 3.
“This prompted a discreet and diligent investigation as promptly ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, into the disappearance of the missing person,” Oluseyi explained.
He added that acting on actionable intelligence and with the support of concerned citizens, operatives traced Odera to Mile 2, where he was found hale and hearty, though visibly distressed.
The vehicle he drove was also recovered in the course of the investigation.
“He has been reunited with his family members and is receiving medical attention and proper care,” Oluseyi stated.
CP Jimoh commended the swift efforts of police operatives and the cooperation of the public, whose useful tips aided the discovery.
He also reassured residents of the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Lagosians, urging members of the public to promptly report similar cases for immediate police action.
