Rotarian Babs Ikechukwu Mogbogu has been installed as the 19th President of Rotary Club of FESTAC Metropolitan.
The thrilling investiture ceremony which took place at Festival Hotel in Amuwo-Odofin area of FESTAC, Lagos on Saturday, also had new members inducted into the Club.
In his acceptance speech, the new President appreciated the entire Club for counting him worthy to steer the course of the Rotary club.
“l am deeply honoured and humbled to stand before you as the new President of our great club, Rotary Club of Festac Metropolitan. I give glory and honour to God Almighty for making this day a reality. In the course of year I will be in charge, our Club will not be left behind. We will take Rotary and humanitarian services to the grassroots of our community through executing projects that will add great values to people’s lives.
“Sincerely, I am expressing my heartfelt appreciation to every member of the club for placing your trust in me to lead the club.
“Let me use this opportunity to extend my appreciation to all our Past Presidents for their respective dedicated leadership and unwavering commitment they have put into the growth and stability of the club. Their commitments and contributions have laid a solid foundation upon which we will continue to build.
“I want to assure you that your resources donated will be judiciously used for the execution of people-oriented projects.,” Mogbogu pledged.
Speaking on the sidelines, the new President stressed that his focal primary project would be health, noting that a healthy society is a wealthy society.
“You know, we do take the issue of polio, maternal and child mortality and other related activities seriously. So, we will partner with relevant industries and individuals to support us.
“Also, I have in mind, a primary school where I grew up around theclub area. I’m going to do something for the school,” he added.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Guest Speaker, Rotarian (Prof.) Nkemdili Nnonyelu who has been an active member of Rotary Club of Awka, Anambra State, now of Rotary International, District 9142, since 2nd November, 1989, expressed confidence in the new President, stressing that Mogbogu has been doing exploits even before he his investiture.
According to him, “I have no doubt in the capacity and capability of Mogbogu who has just been installed as the 19th President of Rotary Club of FESTAC. Prior to this investiture, he has been doing wonderful works that impact the lives of many, both in FESTAC and beyond.
“I have the assurance that he’s tenure would witness significant performances.”
While speaking with journalists, the immediate past President, Rotarian Ngozi Ifeoma Nwabueze, exhorts the virtues of the new President, noting that, ‘what a woman can do, a man can also do, even better ‘.
“I believe my successor will take the club to greater heights. He has what it takes to achieve great feats,” she said.
Rotarian Mogbogu is a Paul Harris Fellow and a prominent member of the AWKA AMBASSADORS CLUB.
A business man of note who owns and operates a number of incorporatted companies which include UZBABS Nigeria Limited and INWAVE Ventures, he is consummate politician and businessman.
The event which was witnessed by many Rotarians and their friends also gave out top and consolation prizes to winners through raffle draws
