Festac Town has welcomed a new Divisional Police Officer following the assumption of office by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Bakare Ibrahim, an accomplished law enforcement professional and respected scholar within the Nigeria Police Force.
His arrival marks a significant transition for the Festac Police Division, coming shortly after the passing of the former DPO, CSP Matilda Ngbaroye, who died last month following a medical procedure.
Upon assuming command, CSP Bakare extended warm greetings of love, peace, and unity to residents of Festac Town and the wider Amuwo Odofin Local Government. His goodwill message was accompanied by a firm declaration that crime and disorder will find no refuge under his leadership. He warned individuals involved in criminal activities to steer clear of the community or face immediate arrest and prosecution. The new DPO also reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s civic duty statement, “When you see something, say something,” urging residents to participate actively in safeguarding their environment.
CSP Bakare pledged strong collaboration with the Local Government Authority, the Federal Housing Authority, institutional leaders, organisations, community associations, and residents of Amuwo Odofin. His message emphasized partnership and shared responsibility for peace and safety.
Though a native of Isale Eko on Lagos Island, CSP Bakare has longstanding ties to the Festac and Mile 2 axis. He began his early education at Central Primary School on 5th Avenue before completing primary school at Command Children School, Mile 2. His academic journey continued at Command Secondary School, Lokoja, and later Methodist Boys High School, Broad Street, Lagos Island. He attended the Lagos State University in Ojo before enrolling in the Nigeria Police Academy, where he was commissioned into the force.
CSP Bakare’s professional career has been marked by notable postings and commendable service. He began in Plateau State, where he developed foundational policing experience, before moving to Edo State as Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police. He later served as Second-in-Command of the State Intelligence Bureau. His Lagos assignments include serving as Escort Commander to former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, later becoming Deputy Commander of the Governor’s Monitoring Team, and eventually Commander of the unit at Alausa, Ikeja.
His performance earned him elevation to Chief Superintendent of Police, serving as CSP ‘A’ at Zone 2 Police Headquarters, Onikan. He later led the Isokoko Police Division in Agege, where his operational results and leadership style were widely praised and remain a reference point within the command.
In November 2025, CSP Bakare was posted to Festac Town as the new Divisional Police Officer, returning to a community where part of his childhood was shaped. His appointment has been met with optimism from residents hoping for renewed structure, stronger policing, and reinforced community trust, especially as the festive season approaches.
