New Timeline For Daily Construction: LASG

  • by

The Lagos State government has restricted the working hours on building sites all across the state to between 7 am and 6 pm from Mondays to Saturdays.

The restriction was disclosed by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Dev, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, who hammered on the need for the order to be strictly adhered to as government agencies would enforce compliance heavily.

Although, if need be, to work outside these stated hours, the part involved would have to obtain a formal application

The move to restrict these working hours on sites was mainly to protect the environment, combat building collapse, and promote social well-being and wellness.

Also, laborers are banned from sleeping in buildings under construction after the close of work, especially at night, as LASBCA officials will be inspecting sites across the state.

Henceforth, any property developer or owners who engage workers to carry out construction work on Sundays and beyond 7 pm on Monday to Saturday will have his or her property sealed indefinitely.

This directive is only necessary to safeguard the building construction industry and ensure that buildings in the state are safe, secure, and fit for habitation.
