One Day Strike Called Off: NARTO

Nigeria’s fuel tanker drivers opted to begin a strike on Monday over rising operational costs due to the recent devaluation of the naira within a year and over the state of the country’s roads.

The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), which groups thousands of truck owners and drivers responsible for fuel distribution, was pushing for higher freight charges from fuel marketers due to rising costs.

They eventually had a meeting with the Federal government earlier today and in conclusion to the proposed meeting, the union decided to call off the one day old strike.

They are said to resume back to duty by the following day.
