One Feared Dead in Suspected Cult Clash in Satellite Town, Amuwo-Odofin

Residents of Satellite Town in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area were thrown into shock following the killing of a man in what is suspected to be a cult-related incident.

At least one person was feared dead after violence reportedly broke out around the NEPA Junction area of Satellite Town on the night of Tuesday, January 28, 2026. The incident has heightened concerns among residents of the community, although full details surrounding the circumstances of the killing remain unclear.

According to information gathered, the victim was discovered at the popular NEPA Junction axis late at night. While initial reports suggest the incident may be linked to cult-related activities, authorities have not officially confirmed the motive behind the killing.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Mrs Abimbola Adebisi, described the case as a suspected murder, stating that investigations were ongoing.

“The case is under investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, as soon as possible,” she said.

The incident in Satellite Town comes amid reports of other violent clashes across different parts of Lagos State. Over the past week, at least three other persons have reportedly been killed in separate cult-related incidents in communities including Iyana-Ipaja and Aboru, Badore and Olokonla, as well as Onipanu.

Videos and photographs circulating on social media platforms following the violence suggest that the incidents occurred between Monday and Wednesday in the affected areas, raising fresh concerns about the resurgence of cult-related violence in parts of the state.

The Lagos State Police Command has continued efforts to curb violent crimes and reprisals linked to cult activities. Last year, no fewer than ten persons were reportedly killed within a ten-day period in incidents connected to cult violence across Lagos.

Residents of Satellite Town and the wider Amuwo-Odofin area have called for increased police presence and sustained security operations to prevent further loss of lives and restore calm in the community.
