In the wake of the tragedy that hit the Ijegun imore community where many were lost in the boat accident, Executives of the Oriade LCDA led by Hon. Rasak Akorede Olojede (Secretary to the Local Government) alongside Legislators of Oriade LCDA paid a visit to the victims of the unfortunate boat mishap.
Recall that the accident happened occurred on Monday, 7th of October, 2024, around 7pm, in Imore Town, a riverine island behind the Nigeria Navy Barracks, Ojo, Satellite Town.
This tragic incident, which claimed the lives of three residents (two males and one female), and left seven others injured, the Oriade LCDA Chairman has called for the need for tighter safety protocols on our waterways.
We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a swift recovery.
She made an appeal to the Lagos State Government to intensify security measures and enhance regulation of waterway operations to prevent such collisions between commercial and passenger boats in the future.
