Stella Osafile, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1, has reaffirmed her commitment to tackling food insecurity through community-driven agricultural initiatives.
Speaking at the 10th Constituency Stakeholders Meeting which held on the 4th September at the Festival Hotel, Amuwo-Odofin, Osafile emphasized that food security remains one of the pillars of her agenda, alongside education, infrastructure, and inclusive governance.
As part of her community empowerment drive, Osafile announced ongoing programs aimed at equipping young people and vulnerable households with the tools to achieve food independence. These initiatives include:
Training in hydroponics and vertical farming, modern agricultural methods designed to maximize food production in limited spaces, Distribution of agricultural start-up kits to help beneficiaries establish small-scale farming projects and sustainable food sources.
“These efforts are not just about providing food for today, but about creating a pathway for long-term food security and youth empowerment in Amuwo-Odofin,” Osafile stated.
The well-attended meeting brought together residents , stakeholders, and community leaders across Amuwo-Odofin consitutency 1, offering a platform to discuss pressing issues in governance, infrastructure, and social development.
Stakeholders applauded the emphasis on food programs, noting that such interventions were timely in light of rising living costs. Others used the opportunity to highlight challenges in the community, reinforcing the meeting’s role as a bridge between government representatives and residents.
Osafile assured residents that she would continue to prioritize policies and projects that directly impact lives in the constituency. She noted that sustainable food initiatives would not only provide relief for families but also create employment opportunities for young people while driving innovation in agriculture.
“Our goal is to make Amuwo-Odofin a model community where governance is inclusive, the youth are empowered, and families have reliable access to food,” she said.
