Over the past few weeks, uncertainty has gripped the Amuwo-Odofin constituency 1 over the court ruling regarding the removal of the House of Assembly member for Constituency 1, Mrs Folake Osafile, the Labour Party candidate.
The Verdict is coming after the appeal court on Thursday, November 23rd 2023 gave the judgement that confirmed her position at the Lagos state house of assembly.
Recall that The Lagos State Election Petitions Tribunal earlier sacked the lawmaker and declared Folorunso Olusegun of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the March 18 State Assembly poll.
The initial verdict from the tribunal came in September 2023, just barely a week after Osafile was appointed as the Chairman of, House Committee on Wealth Creation and Employment.
The lawmaker took to her social page and she said
I give God, the Almighty, all the glory for the victory at the appeal court today. It was a judgment that confirmed my mandate permanently.
I also want to say a very big thank you to my family, the Labour Party, and every member of Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 for their wishes, prayers, and words of encouragement all through the tribunal experience.
This has further buttressed that all powers truly belong to God, and the mandate was truly given to me by the people of Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 to lead them and be their voices at the government house.
This is a call to do more for the people and defend their interests, as I have done in the past 5 months. The season of partisanship is over. I humbly seek the support of everyone, irrespective of their tribe, religion, gender, and political leaning, in order to move the constituency forward. Amuwo Odofin Constitiency 1 belongs to all of us, and we must always seek her peace and prosperity.
I will continue to represent your interests and defend your rights, by the grace of God.
Once again, kindly accept my warm appreciation as we move fully into good governance.
God bless you.
