After the announcement by the newly inaugurated President, Bola Tinubu of the Removal of Fuel subsidy panic heightened in the Amuwo-Odofin LGA and other communities across the Nation.
Filling stations in the community reacted by most of them not selling at all, a few are selling at outrageous prices while NNPC and a few others were selling but stopped.
Residents have been lamenting bitterly as most stations asides from NNPC at Apple Junction which has been said to be selling with very long queues of vehicles causing traffic on the roads. while other stations persistently refuse to open their doors.
Most fuel stations have seen a huge amount of distressed, worried, and panic-filled consumers and business owners waiting for fuel to be disbursed.
This distressing turn of events unfolded shortly after the President announced the permanent abolition of fuel subsidies during his speech. Now, the consequences of this decision are painfully evident in the lives of the local community.
Frustrated commuters have been left with no choice but to retrace their steps, as the limited availability of commercial buses takes advantage of the crisis by charging exorbitant fares.

A Tricycle Rider, Mr. Frank Njoku lamented bitterly how he has been in the queue since morning and still hasn’t bought fuel and hadn’t made money as well as at the time of filing this report.
Adewale, a lawyer based in Amuwo complained bitterly, he explained how he had to go out as early as 6 am and waited for more than 5 hours yet without being able to buy fuel and had to go back home making him miss an important meeting with a client today
Madam Glory, a Stylist also complained of how she hasn’t been able to buy fuel and hasn’t been able to attend to her customers who have been troping in after the public holidays.
On Monday evening the long queues resumed at the filling stations with some selling at 250/per liter against N185/per liter. However, some filling stations in Festac Town still sell fuel at N185/per liter. Speedway station is said to be selling at 280/per liter; MRS at Apple Junction selling at 400/per liter
Recall that we just recovered from long queues and scarcity within the community less than two months ago.
According to some commuters, In Satellite Town, Commuters in the axis had to rely on private vehicles to move. Fares from Abule Ado to Mile2 increased by 100% from usual N100 fare to N200 also Mile 2 to CMS increased from N400 to N500.
