Saturday 31st Of May 2025 was a remarkable and memorable day for the Residents of Amuwo-Odofin as they played host to launching and fund raising event by the Festival Town Residents Association (FTRA) as they launched an ambitious fundraising campaign for the construction of a state-of-the-art multipurpose Secretariat.
The fundraising event which was organized towards the construction of the Festival Town Residents association multi-purpose secretariat building, held at the present FTRA Secretariat at 202 Road, Festac Town which would also be the location that would house the new befitting structure called the FTRA Hall. The proposed building which intends to serve as the permanent secretariat for the Association , aptly named the FTRA Hall, is envisioned to be a central hub for administration, community meetings, and civic engagement for residents of the community.
Present at the event were stakeholders, residents, government officials, security operatives as well FTRA Executives and active members.
The event kicked off with full gear by registration of guests, Opening prayer by an executive as well as the National anthme. Giving the welcome address was the current FTRA president, Barr Mohammed Adegbenro who introduced the event as well as emphasizing the importance of the project. He called on residents and well-wishers to support the vision of a more structured and empowered residents association.
The keynote was given by the chairman of Projects development committee within the FTRA, Mr Sylvester Onwuasor who highlighted the need for this structure, which is to to have a permanent Secretariat that will serve as the administrative and operational hub for the FTRA.
The target for the fundraiser was ₦160 million which was intended to be raised during the event and days preceding it. The fundraising officially commenced with donations and pledges streaming in from individuals, groups, and corporate bodies alike. As a highlight of the event, the architectural plans for the new Secretariat were unveiled to much applause and admiration
